Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is delighted to support the second season of Irish crime drama Kin, which has started production in Dublin earlier this month.

Produced by BRON studios and Headline Pictures, the television series started broadcasting on RTÉ One in September 2021. Following from exceptional audience ratings and multiple accolades including six IFTA awards, the show gained attention internationally, airing on AMC Networks in the U.S. and Canada, U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, Spain and Portugal; Viaplay in Scandinavia; and NPO in Netherlands. A second series was confirmed in February earlier this year.

The story charts the lives of a fictional Dublin family embroiled in a gangland war. The returning cast includes Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Clare Dunne (Herself), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), Sam Keeley (Joe vs Carole), Emmett J. Scanlan (Peaky Blinders), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander), Yasmin Seky and Francis Magee who is now a series regular. The second season has been confirmed to have 8 episodes of 60 minutes and will follow the Kinsellas as they face the greatest threat to their family yet in the form of a ruthless agent of chaos.

Peter McKenna (The Last KingdomRed Rock) is the series showrunner/executive producer, writer and creator. He is joined behind by the camera by episodic director Felix Thompson (The Letter for the King), as well as directing partners Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor (Helen), and Kate Dolan (You Are Not My Mother).

Executive producers on the series are BRON Studios’ David Davoli (Ten Percent), Samantha Thomas (Jessica Jones), Steven Thibault (Pieces of a Woman) and Aaron L. Gilbert (BombshellJoker), Headline Pictures’ Christian Baute (Ten Percent), Laurence Lenica and Franck Calderon, and Ciarán Donnelly (Wheel of Time), who is also the co-creator.

James Flynn (Vikings) is producing through his Metropolitan Films banner, with Emma Fleischer on as supervising producer and Gemma O’Shaugnessy as line producer. Dermot Horan and David Crean are executive producers for RTÉ and Andrew Byrne is executive producer for Screen Ireland.
