Dublin Castle (Caisleán Bhaile Átha Cliath)

The present Dublin Castle dates from the mid 1700’s and today is used by the Irish Government for state events such as the inauguration of the Irish President and state banquets for visiting dignitaries.

The State Apartments dominate the south range of the Upper Courtyard.

Built as the residential and public quarters of the viceregal court, there was a focus on a fashionable and extravagant social life.
