Sir John Rogerson’s Quay (Cé Sir John Rogerson)

Sir John Rogerson’s Quay is a street and quay in Dublin on the south bank of the River Liffey between City Quay in the west and Britain Quay. This area has seen a large regeneration in recent years.

Sir John Rogerson’s Quay (Cé Sir John Rogerson)

Named for politician and property developer Sir John Rogerson, the quay was formerly part of Dublin Port. It has some of the few remaining campshire warehouses in Dublin.

Here you will find the diving-bell which was in constant use until 1958, as the port expanded to meet the requirements of more modern ships that needed deeper water.

It was saved by staff members of the port and was placed on display in 2000 as part of a community project on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay.

In 2014 Dublin Port decided to create a more permanent display, raising the diving-bell off the ground and building a small museum underneath.
